CONEXIÓN TANGO is a group of Argentinean musicians based in Barcelona since 2004. Since then the group has been performing on hundreds of stages in Europe, representing the traditional music of its country; the tango. During the last four years the group has developed two important aspects that make the tango itself: the music and the dance. In order to meet the expectations of different audiences’ the group presents two separate repertories:

- MILONGUERO -

This repertoire has been thought in order to satisfy dancers’ needs, professional tango dancers or “milongueros”.
They emphasize the rhythmic aspects of the selected tangos and its typical roots that have given the origin to this transcendent combination of music and dance on the banks of the River Plate in the beginning of the twentieth century until about the 1940’s.

- NEW TANGO -

In this case the repertoire is orientated towards the development that the tango music has had throughout the XX, this project develops the legacy that was leaving Astor Piazzolla, who could incorporate into the tango the harmony, the improvisation and the spirit of jazz, together with musicians as Gary Burton, Jerry Mulligan or Chick Corea.

Conexión Tango has taken part in festivals, stages and other scenes related to jazz and world music as well. This repertoire is made of our own compositions, Astor Piazzolla’s compositions, and new arrangements of traditional tangos.
